Olga Potapova is a paleontologist at the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs in South Dakota. She studies the morphologies and evolutionary adaptations of large mammals of the Holarctic, such as the mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, steppe bison, Pleistocene horse and others. She is an author of dozens of research papers and has recently co-authored papers on the Yuka mammoth, the Yukagir bison, the Yukagir horse, and the Zhenya mammoth from Siberia.
